I recently adopted a new Burmese python. It is a male, and he is approximately 3 years old, maybe 2.5 - in excellent health with the exception of a minor URI - he is on Amikacin shots every 3 days for 5 doses - so hopefully that should clear things up. I constructed a custom enclosure for him, since his previous enclosure was a 12" by 36" by 18" aquarium.



He is 14.1 pounds and 5'11" long. He was being fed two large rats every 12 days or so. He had blood work done (which showed an elevated WBC, in conjunction with the fact he sneezed or blew some snot on his window - led me to believe that he does most likely have a URI.



Considering the way he was being fed, why is he so small? The snake was acquired from a family member of a breeder who went off to college and gave them to the family pet store I got him at (I think they were friends), along with a BCI and an Asian Beauty Rat snake. All three were in great health and the other two were roughly the same size as the burm - the BCI a little larger.



Why would he be so small? How long should I wait before feeding him? I have had him for about 8 days, and he has been in his new enclosure for 5 days roughly. His temps are 83°/94° and usually 48% humidity.
