Upscale: I am fascinated by the heredity of the behaviors as much as the animals themselves. What did you breed the female in the first picture to? Was it necessary to trick the cross? I sure would like to see this forum used to share techniques and more posts like yours with the behavioral inheritance noted. Thanks for sharing.

Me: I mated her to her father. As I remember, they coupled shortly after I put them together. I wanted to mate her to the amelanistic male but he wasn't interested. All the successful matings I did last spring were one male and one female without trickery. The tricking I did try didn't work nor did I get any hybrid babies. The gopher didn't breed and the three clutches I got involving one or both hybrid parents went bad.
