you startled her. An open mouth display is not a hunger display, it is a defensive display (don't touch me!) Striking at the cage is usually a "feed me" type display. Did you flip on a light just before entering the room? Was the room dark? Is she in shed? Have the temps changed? Too hot would get her jacked up-have you just recently added more heat? Maybe you woke her up out of a deep sleep. How do you know when they're sleeping? They don't move a lot anyway,and they have no eyelids! Maybe (I hope not) she's sick and doesn't feel good. Lot's of factors to consider here. That's what makes these animals so interesting to me.
