A number of years ago I had seen in the same want ads, that someone within a half hour of me was selling an albino Snapping turtle for $40.00. I was pretty young at the time and didn't have the money lol But intrestingly, several years later, I had met someone that worked for the Boston Museum of Science and I was fortunate enough to have been able to give a private tour of the downstairs facility - not seen by the public.
They had tons of animals that never even make it on display, animlas that people just have dropped off there over the years. Anyway, they had a big adult snapping turtle swimming in this large opaque tub. I remember it being more white (with some brown in the carapace ~ likely leucistic) no one seemed to know the origins of the turtle. I always wondered if it was the individual that was for sale for $40.00.
Every now and then a customer will tell a tale of an albino Snapper, but i've yet to find one myself...Thanks, Leo
