Bear with me as I figure my camera settings out the hard way (lots of tinkering and some truly atrocious pictures I won't admit to taking).
If anyone more experienced with picture taking would like to give me some helpful tips, it'd be appreciated. I'm using a Kodak EasyShare C743 (christmas gift!). I can't figure out how to take a picture with the flash and not wash out what I'm taking a picture of. Some of the problem, I'm sure, is how close the camera is to the subject, but there's gotta be an exposure setting that'll work too.

I have used my primitive photo editing software to "fix" the pictures a bit.
That much bigger snake in the background is Darwin, who is ridiculously attached to Periscope and not only follows her everywhere in the tank, but if I take her out and not him, he will "pace" the tank until I put her back.
