Well this is what happens when a few people ruin something for the whole. I do not see this a the government trying to tell anyone what to do but to set reasonable standards for all of us to follow. This will now hold all to the same standard not a varing system based on an Officers knowledge or ignorance of the proper care of certain reptiles. I am a Police Officer here in Florida and I feel personally that the standards are reasonable and most of us can continue to keep our collections as is with little or no change. While I have a decent collection, boas, pythons including 2 burms, and a few corns for the kids, I see the need for the none snake friendly people to be educated also. I have saved many corn, rat, and a few other snakes that people called the Police Department saying that the snake was a "rattlesnake" or even once I was told there was a cobra on a back porch, the cobra was a rat snake. I recently just rescued a 8-9 foot burm that was called in at a womens house trying to "break in". This has now left a bad name for the hobby in this neighborhoods mind. I tried to speak to the people and they told me that all snakes should be banned. Well I think being regulated is better then a total ban. I've worked for years building my collection on a cops salary and I would hate to lose it. At least now there will be a fair set of rules we will have to follow, but a standard set of rules which i agree with there being a standard in writing so even us as Officers have to follow. This is just the way I feel. Sorry if any typo's just worked a double and got to be back in at 0700. Thanks for your time.
