Normal & local specific animals will always be my favorites. And I do have quite a bit in my collection.
I keep many snakes that some people wouldn't give a second glance at a show. Emory rats, eastern kings, speckled kings, Eastern Black kings (not Mexican Black) and garters. Cornsnakes are the only snake that I've strayed from the norm and purchased morphs. And even with cornsnakes you can be sure I have several normals thrown in the mix. The only other exception is my axanthic florida king.
I think most corn folks have a deep appreciation for normals, where as I don't get that same feeling in the ball python community.
