breeding V. salvator sub-species??

Anyone have any information on this potential? Bennet states:



"For captive breeding attempts it is highly desirable that both members of the pair have the same geographical origins."



and...



"Many subspecies of the water monitor have been described and no records of interbreeding between subspecies exist."



This is from his Little Book of Monitor Lizards by Bennet, circa 1995 so that info might be outdated now.



If they do interbreed...are their physical characteristics generally displayed as typical genetic morphs (dominate / recessive)? For example can the generally smaller size of a Sulawesi be introduced into a Sulfur?



Any information or opinions would be appreciated.
