However, there has been some speculation on the part of some breeding motley lines that the dorsal and ventral traits of motley animals are actually the results of two different genes found very close together on the DNA chain. That's why they show up together almost exclusively. But, there are a few animals with very motley dorsals with checked bellies, and white ventrals with normally patterned dorsals. [ Hide Replies ]
