Would the same general "rule" of 18 months and 3.5' also apply to BCO?

I'm a little anxious to pair my Argentines but concerned about the male's size/age. I bought him as a yearling 5-6 months ago. That would put him about 18 mo. He's about 4' and taking med rats, so the numbers seem right.

Here's were I get my doubts. I read (from Rio Bravo site- on Argentines) that the BCO babies usually start off taking larger prey than a BCI. So if a male BCO starts off taking fuzzies or even hoppers, would taking med be a correct representation of proper size, for a potential breeder male. Maybe I should wait until he's taking lg rats?

What say you?
FWIW The female is about 7'
