No clue what this can be, how big are these grey things? If they were dark and very small, I would say they are mites but never heard of grey flat things. Unless it's just natural pigmentation under the scales or the scale rot spots you mentioned before. Could also be a minor burn that has healed or in the process of healing, or start of a blister? A picture would make it easier to identify.
Being a new snake it may be a good ideal to just take him to a vet for an examination. But if the snake is eating fine, pooping fine and otherwise healthy, it may be fine to just observe the snake and see if the spots get worse or disappear. Deffinitely keep him isolated from your other snakes.
