I think the trait can be passed on by one parent just like blonde hair can be in humans. Different Pastel lines produce different types of coloring - Thinking of Pastel Dreams, EBV, Matt Crabes Albinos, and Davey Pastels, and others - all different from each other but all Pastels. I think that basically the Coral albinos are really just different lines of Pastels (or non-Pastels with lots of color) and given the name "Coral", and that the splotchy orange is a result of them being Albino - being able to see more of the colors once the black is removed.
