That's a very pretty snake. My male BCI just got an RI this year and I have no idea how/why. I have had him since he was a week old and he is now 9 years old. Luckily my wife's old boss is a great herp vet and actually breeds colubrids.

First off he had me mist him daily and after I got the bathroom hot and steamy in the mornings, I'd get him in there while I showered. The other thing I did was get a tuperware barely big enough for him to fit in and filled the bottom with wet potting soil. ALso upped the temps.

For drugs, we started with baytril 0.1cc every third day. Initially he improved but then continued bubbling and having his head up and mouth partially open. Did that for two weeks. Since he wasn't getting better we cultured his trachea and switched to oxytetracycline 0.35cc (200mg/ml) every other day. The oxytetracycline injections must be painful because sampson hated them and his back would twitch when I gave it.

After about a week of the oxytetracycline, he showed big signs of improvement. He's now back to his old self. Took over a month to get him healthy again.

All my doses were weight based (I don't remember the calcs) and my boy weighs about 14 pounds. So it seems your vet has her on a much larger dose. Hopefully all will work out. keep us updated

Tony
