Although I DO NOT agree that this is in anyway safe, I do see it in a slightly different way. I have rarely seen in my travels throughout SE Asia (China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia) where locals would actually treat a snake with such kindness. Generally all snakes are considered either food, evil or dangerous and killed. Sometimes they are eaten, skinned, bottled or simply left to rot.
If that child reaches adulthood(or may already has based on how old that photo looks), there is a good chance that he may make a difference on how his fellow man treats snakes and possibly wildlife in general. I imagine a few of the extremely dedicated guides I have used in the past growing up just like that. DM EXOTICS
