Doug, I'm glad you posted that. You created the perfect example why you don't measure a sloughed skin to determine the size of a snake. In the casting, you showed the skin that was under each scale, right next to the corresponding scales ON the snake that show the scales touching. Add to this the flexibility of the sloughed skin and you can see that the shed can be as much as 40% longer than the actual snake.
Way to go. Not only a great picture, but a valuable demonstration for snake keepers. I can't tell you how many people call to tell me their corns are over six feet long. Then, I give them the bad news. lol. Now, I'll just refer them to your picture.
