....Jess started a post last week about storage for hatchlings. I did not get around to taking PICs of these boxes until this evening and so I started a new thread here rather than post to the old thread. I keep little Rainbow Boas in clear plastic scale model display cases from Pioneer Plastics. They come in several sizes. These are nice quality very clear boxes and could be used for displaying animals for sale at shows. The lids have a large lip around the edge and the bottom of the boxes are beveled so that they are strong and also stack nicely. I use a soldering iron to poke small airholes in the boxes and with a large water bowl and paper towel substrate these work for maintaining humidity. Rather than having a temperature gradient in these short boxes I keep the large old box style cages they are stacked and kept in at around 70 to 77 degrees. I can stack 54 of the 9 inch boxes inside a 48 inch box cage. The lids are not quite a tight fit on these boxes and so I use tape to I keep the top of the top box in each stack from being pushed off. I keep babies in these in the 9 inch boxes until the snakes are around 23 inches long and then move them into the 13 inch boxes. There is one size even larger than these which might work as caging for Rainbows up to around 36 inches. The small boxes are not large enough to provide a hide for the baby snakes but with them stacked in unlighted cages they do well and do not seem to be stressed. The boxes seem small but the snakes do well n them. The 9 inch boxes are less than 3 dollars each when you purchase 24 of them at a time. The 13 inch boxes are just over 5 dollars each when you purchase 8 of them at a time. Shipping is extra.
