Today, I was given a beautiful 7', 35lb or so red-tail boa. This one has a very, very large fat deposit post vent. *start joke* It's either that or this guy is really well endowed. *end joke*
I have many snakes, but have never had one with a fat deposit. I do not know too much about the care she gave him except that he was in way too small of an enclosure, 55 gallon, and that she fed him too often, once a week. Whether or not she fed a normal or half size meal each feeding, I don't know.
I am moving him into an 8'L x 4'D x 4'H enclosure and feeding him every 2 weeks instead of one. Will the extra room to explore and altered feeding schedule help reduce the size of the fat deposit? Any information is greatly appreciated, thanks...
John
