I know you probably did everything right but I like to use my home made snake hook but accidents do happen. Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing) will cause an instant release of the snake from the fumes but never pour on head just a whiff and they will let go immediately (Red-Tailed Boas by Aller, Bayless, and Campbell). I always use hand sanitizer religiously, never feed when they are opaque (can't see good and will be defensive) because I transfer to feeding tubs and I don't want that either and if they are moody my snake hook for the initial overture. It would be cool to post a pic in three days or so if you didn't mind.
