I would introduce a weanling/crawler rat to get him used to the increased size of the prey and give him a couple at a time if he'll take them. Then move up to a small for a while, then move up as he grows, and he will grow quickly with more food. Generally a 05' should be on at least small rats but more preferably, medium sized rats.
