It (in my opinion) is just a matter of safety. You probably could uncoil the snake from the tail but you probably couldn't just power your way out of the coils if it got around both arms or the neck could have you pass out in seconds (kind of like a choke hold from a martial aritst) before you could make your way free. Always nice to have someone near by just in case.
