Could it be a girl?

I've had my ball python for almost a year, and it was only about 16 in. when I got it last spring. I'm not sure of the sex.

Anyway, it seems to be going off feed right now. Normally, it never misses a meal, and now it has refused the last two meals. No particular changes to enclosure, humidity, temps or food (it eats F/T small rats). The snake has been healthy all along and really put on length and girth this past fall, right up till its last meal in late January.

Over the past couple days, it also has been coiling up in a tight concentric coil with the bottom scales pressed against the tank glass (sort of cinnamon roll looking). Very unusual position, since it normally pretty much sprawls out on the hot side every day.

Here's the question: Is it possible that this yearling could be a female and possibly ovulating? How old do they have to be to start doing that?

The snake doesn't seem more swollen than usual, but like I said, it's been putting on some mass this past fall and eating like a horse.

If someone could please clue me in, I'd sure appreciate your knowledge.

Thanks!
