In addition to what melindaste told you (which is accurate) I would add that there was a thread posted yesterday, "Impaction?" where I explained in detail some of the things you can do, and when to call it a problem. This is the URL to my reply in that thread:

As melindaste also mentioned, if it really has been 8 months, and the snake has been eating regularly in that time, it probably IS a reason for concern. The age of the snake, the actual time elapsed, and the feeding regimen make a big difference in the severity of this case. Read over what I wrote in the other thread. That should help you in deciding when to talk to a vet.
