I finally found a really good article on breeding BCI's (with help from you guys). Thanks Boaphile! Unfortunately the article pointed out some possible huge mistakes.
I have 1 adult male and 3 adult females. He has been with all three at seperate times. I now know that what I thought was definate copulation could have been merely aggressive courtship. No actual penetration was observed, but I didn't want to disturb them. The females are larger now, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if it is the pre-ovulation swell, pregnancy or what. I could have easily missed ovulation if it has occured already.
Should I let things go, or should I place all 2-3 females into a larger cage with the male to see keep from missing the window of opertunity? 2 of the three females have shed, but I am not certain if it was a POS or just a regular shed. I can tell you that the males interest in them is not what it used to be.
Any help would be appreciated. I've bred kenyans and corns for years, but they are about as difficult to breed as cats.
On a seperate question, do the females retain sperm? Or must they mate after ovulation?
