Thank you for taking the time and the energy to post all of this. It's been very informative, especially for those of us who are new to it all.
A horse farm I ride with had a similar thing happen to an Arabian stallion they had. Several bad bouts of colic led to surgery and they weren't able to save him as he'd had a small hole in his intestine through which another part looped, causing similar blockage issues. I think that in this case though, there was some talk about it being a genetic weakness.
I wonder if that would be true of snakes as well?
