Aaaaand more advice - ditch the reptile carpet and use an Under Tank Heater instead of the lamp. From personal experience, the snake will do much better with the UTH.

Reptile carpet tends to snag on the snake's scales, making them dingy looking, and sometimes tearing them out. I like to use papertowel, or when I want things to look pretty, aspen or cedar mulch.
