Sounds like a good plan. I've always recommended the wet pillowcase trick. Tie em up in a wet pillowcase, put that back in the cage and come back in an hour or so.
If it's really bad, will probably take a few shed to fully clear up. It's an indication of humidity too low. Limit your ventilation a bit to raise humidity.
Lastly there are some shed aid products on the market, I've never used any so can't say how well they work. Might be worth a trip to the reptile store? ----- Thanks,
