here's a trick that I use to measure mine:
get a loooong piece of string. if you have two people do this its easier but you can do it by yourself too. put the end of the string on the snake's head(or near it, you get the idea), and then just roll out the string following the snake's spine, and mark where the snake ends. then, straighten the string and measure against a measuring tape.
