This is an area in between towns around Decatur, Bowie, Montague, and Nocona. And yes, this guy took a good shot at me but mostly just crapped all over everything. Temps were at about mid 70's and he was out cruising over a rock. All the coachwhips that day calmed pretty fast. I normally don't have a problem handling them. Here the Texas rat snakes are the worst. The copperheads were all spotted buried under leaves. Each was caught without disturbing the others, which were within about 2 feet of each other. Here is what they looked like.

All venomous was released in another location and all non-venomous was turned loose.

Here is a juvenile (24-28 inches) that I got to sit still for about 5 seconds on a rock before it shot off.
