Normally one should give a snake a week or two to settle in and get used to his new home before even trying to feed it. The fact that it had mites though, was reason enough to do something with that. A bad infestation can very well make him aggressive. I was given a young one some time ago that was given to the pet store because it was too aggressive. Had mites and when I got rid of them it settled right down. Fix the mite problem and give him a rest, then try to feed again. Good luck.
