My sister took it to a herpatologist at the University of Colorado (we lived in Boulder) and he told her that it was a Mexican rear fanged snake in the Conophis genus. Then 30 years later, I was recovering from foot surgery and bought myself "Snakes" by Harry Greene and right there on page 83 was a picture of the same snake with a discussion of how the venom acts somewhat like that of Bloomslangs and Twigsnakes! (Any of you who has not read this book-- it is an absolutely wonderful book- I sat down and read it cover to cover). | ||
