Compatibility?

I own a young, 4.5 inch gecko which I believe to be female. She is housed in a 10 gal. tank. Today I just got a baby blizzard, which is about an inch smaller. When I tried to introduce them, they licked eachother, but the larger one always tries and bites the younger ones tail! In fear of the blizzard dropping its tail, I separated the 10 gal. lengthwise. How long before they can get along? Or is it possible I have two males???
