heating a wooden cage

I have plans made up to build a 5'x2'x2' cage for Princess, my female BCI, my only issue is I'm wondering how to heat such a cage? I've never used a wooden cage like this before. Can I put heat tape or heat pads on the underside of the cage? Will the wood still allow for sufficient heat exchange? I'd prefer belly heat over hanging lights...any suggestions?
