I have herped that little mountain/ridge across from the harqs several times. It is a neat place, but those black rocks get BLAZING hot in the summer.
I was photographing a chuckwalla there one day and crouched right on top of a coiled blacktail. I would have taken a very bad bite (you know the old joke about having to find someone to suck the venom out). Fortunately, blacktails are usually kittens.
We have found 5 species of rattlesnake on that road in about 30 minutes one summer night. ----- Chris Harrison
