My guess (only a guess) would be that whether or not a Boa will continue to eat normally or nearly-so during pregnancy has to do with how 'comfortable' they feel, and to a lesser extent how hungry they are..
.
In either case a WC snake is more likely to be effected, either by being more stressed or feeling threatened and also they could be less accustomed to regular feeding.
.
Personally, I like to see gravid boas eat something during the cycle, rather than go without for the duration, though I've seen many great litters either way.
