I would only use them as a last resort myself. I have heard they are biters also so you should be concerned about that as well as the fact that if you sell your snakes, most people will not be able to find african rats locally. That wouldn't be good for the snakes or the new owners since they would probably refuse normal rats and go off feed for a very long time.
