Hi Caden.
I appreciate your thoughts. Im not trying to imply that my suggestion is altogether better. You have some valid points. The tetramethrin that is also in the can of Black Flag probably hasnt been tested with snakes. Who knows what the repurcussions could be. My willing to risk it is simply my personal choice. It may or may not benefit the rest of you in the herp community in the future. I realize its important to consider risks but sometimes being optimistic has its payoff too. You might as well give it the benifit of the doubt. Its not like the suggestion is being forced on anyone.
Concerning spraying while animals are in the room.....I certainly am not suggesting to leave an animal in the cage while spraying. First of all its important to make sure the room youre treating is well ventalated to clear the vapors out as quickly as possible. Its vital to move each animal to a different cage other than the one being treated but if the room is well ventilated it may not be necessary to extract all animals from the room itself. (my .02cents)
Of course, any chemical you use that has permethrim is likely going to have harmful effects on any insects in the room. Like, if you have tarantulas or scorpians etc the vapors may kill them.
