This is an experiment I did on species recognition utilizing pheromones obtained from (pap smear technique)secretions from the cloacal gaping of Boa (Acrantophis) dumerili. The following female chosen was picked at the time so there was no possible way to create a hybrid. Yes that's a male Dumeril Boa copulating with actual intromission with a female Albino Python molurus bivittatus. Without the use of pheromones it is to be noted that the male dumeril attacked and constricted female P.m. bivittatus. in an attempt to kill and eat her. Very Interesting stuff I was doing in the 90's lol



In case you do not know pheromones are a chemical substance that is produced by an animal and serves especially as a stimulus to other individuals of the same species for one or more behavioral responses, in this case being the onset of reproductive behavior up to and including intromission and ejaculation, sperm obtained from female burm thru gentle rubbing of the cloacal region ( no I wasn't enjoying this in a BAD way lol )



I wish I where a more able photographer, I do some odd experiments to verify scientific theories that I have read in Herpetology books. Chemosensory cues are critical to the reproductive biology of all snakes, this all started by studying Garter snake behavior in my childhood in a national geographic magazine and was further inspired by a Herpetologist named G.K. Noble who did experiments with various lizards and yes garter snake pheromones. Another good reason for me to get with the times and get a quality camera and take some pics, these where taken with an old digital camera, but I can tell whats going on.
