Heat mat temps?

I have a 10-20 gallon heat mat under my 32 Qt. tub. There are currently aspen shavings in there too.



So, when I take various temps throughout the tub, should I point the gun directly at the spot on the floor of the tub where the heat mat is?



What is the highest temp it should get for the "hotspot" in this instance?
