Hey, Texans -
I have not followed this too closely, but I did read the bill and watched the testimony videos.
If the Texas legislative process is anything like Indiana's, the bill has only "cleared the committee" ... it has not passed. I would assume it has to pass both the House and Senate.
It's time to go after it!!! before it passes both houses. Writing Representatives and Senators, getting petitions, and "bombarding the legislators" (phone lines) with opposition. This last point is actually the most important. Have anyone and everyone call their respective representatives and simply state that they oppose Bill #????. They do not have to provide their name, a reason or anything ... simply MASS OPPOSITION. Too many people incorrectly think that you must have some interest in reptiles ... YOU DO NOT!
How do I know this? This is exactly the same advice that AT&T and other major corporations give their employees when a bill is introduced that is deterimental to their business.
Once again, have everyone phone (even multiple times). These legislators need to hear MASS OPPOSITION. Watch closely the schedule for voting and intensify your opposition at that time.
Good Luck!
Bill Gaines
