I am sure most here are familiar with this range map (below) from Werler and Dixon (2000). It has always impressed me how this map speaks volumes for the importance of roadways in obtaining voucher specimens. Considering that each and every dot on this map represents a specimen in a museum somewhere (Werler and Dixon’s requirements), it is remarkable how the dots literally trace out the roadways in Trans-Pecos Texas. Just from a rough estimate, I would guess that >90% of these records come from roadways.













Although I’m not sure how one would go about getting an attachment through in an E-mail to a rep., such maps could be easily included in hard copy correspondence.
