It saves money. The larger a feed animal is the cheaper it is by the pound, generally speaking. We too feed our giant pythons 40 to 60 pound pigs. We operate our own pig farm in addition to operating our own rabbitry and rattery buildings. But when the choice to feed a giant gal is 4 or 5 rabbits, or one pig, the answer is easy.
