I'm not against hybridization but I think you're missing the point when you compare captive pets with humans etc.: we aren't hybrids from being enclosed in a box with only one choice of mate, the captive animals are in most cases.
Also, people are against it as some in-breeding happens in the captive pet trade which causes mutant and deformed animals. Human's would not like to be match-made with their brothers/sisters, boxed up and left to bring up in-bred sons and daughters.
It's not too harsh, just off the mark.
