ok I've been herping alot and not really recording everything. so I got my grubby hands on a camera and wanted to take some pics of various stuff, main goal was getting a pic of a spotted turtle. I see them fairly often just never get close enough for a pic.
first up is a pic of my ugly mug holding two snakes
eastern garter and a northern brownsnake

theese are everywhere
northern ribbon snake

and theese are the abundant
eastern garter

now this isn't really exciting except that it was in habitat that I have not seen a brownsnake in a long time, I usually find them around cities and towns this one was in the woods, posed pic too

northern brownsnake

wouldn't be NY without a few norther redbacked sals, double header

ok well on with the turtle hunt, I was looking at this pool

and I saw another common critter from our area midlandpainted turtle. this is the first one I have seen in this area usually only spotted turtles are here

he was rather shy, plastron shot

and finally pay dirt. this is one of the first times I was able to get a pic of a spotted turtle in situ.

adult male. hope you liked my post. and my pic didn't scare you to much
wayne
