I have one cage with a shelf. It is actually 2 Boaphile 3' cages bolted together, with a side pass through, and the shelf on the warm side of the cage is currently heated with an Ultratherm heat pad taped to the underside.

It works really well and the big fmeale who inhabits this cage has been using most of the interior space lately in order to thermoregulate. I suppose the shelf also helps to give her a moderate amount of exercise.

Those Boaphile cages have worked really well for me for years now!
