I've never done this and have fed hundreds of Zoophobas to dozens of chams over the years. If you disable the worm too much it won't move around and attract the cham's attention. They don't eat dead prey. If I need to hand feed a sick or weak cham I'll crush the head, but a healthy cham's bite usually crushes the worm pretty quickly. Watch your cham shoot at them. Most shoot at the head to avoid a bite. If you do see a possible bite on a cham's lip, you can put a bit of Betadine or triple antibiotic ointment on it.
