Generally speaking, bad eggs won't spoil good ones. Usually bad eggs are easy to remove after 7-14 days, as the substance that causes them to adhere to the other eggs seems to "wear off." I've hatched clutches where the bad egg was in the middle of the group and there seemed to be no easy way to extract it.



The real danger of bad eggs lies in the fact that they attract carrion flies (which are kind of like a meat-eating version of a fruit fly). Carrion flies and their maggots can destroy good eggs. I don't think I'd cut open a bad egg. I think that would only increase the smell, which could further its appeal to carrion flies.
