Ok, im sorry if Ive missed something where theres already been a post about this, but I just dont have time to look right now(exhausted) and Id like an answer to a question that just started bugging me... well not really a question, but any info regarding something I just saw would be nice.



Heres the deal:



Although its looked down on by many, I currently have a pictus and leo sharing a cage. As juvies they never fought and have lived together since both were no more than 2-3 months old and its been coming up on a year now. Both are males. I came to the realization lately that they have started fighting, by recording shortly after feeding with a video camera- the pictus, surprisingly enough, attacks and bites the leo(who is quite a bit larger at this point) when the leo goes to a certain spot in the cage. Im guessing this is territorial and coming as sexual maturity arises. The leo never fights back, simply runs to the other side of the cage.



This I dont mind, as Im soon going to be moving the pictus out to join a breeding colony (if I can ever find someone with females that ships to the US... any ideas here?).



The problem arose tonight when I decided to take out the leo to see his colors (WOW btw... they said this thing was albino, but I dont think it is). I rarely do this, as I feel is stresses the animals (and it stresses the crap outta me, as i have horrible short term memory).



Anyway, I got the lil guy out and was taking some pics when all of a sudden I notice something behind his left front leg. I got him into a position to get a better look as gently as I could, and still couldnt see much. What I THINK I saw, was what appeared to be a small hole in his skin. Upon checking the other leg, I found what appears to be another hole, in the same location.



What would this be caused by? Possibly the beetle stage of mealworms that have escaped and metamorphed? There are lots of em in the cage, but I throw in a few leafy greens every so often to give em something to munch on. Is it bad to have those beetles? Could they be munching my lil buy while he sleeps?



Could it have been caused by the pictus? Ive seen him grab the leo at about that spot during one of their fights, but it didnt look like a nasty enough attack to make a hole like this...



it was small, but round, almost looked like a puncture wound... no apperant blood, which is what made me really curious. dosnt appear to be damaged at all around the hole and he didnt seem to be favoring it in any way (ie, limping)... damn, i wish i would have taken a pic now.... maybe tmorrow ill take him out and get a pic to show you.



Any suggestions?
