Hello everyone!
I'm getting 2 leopard geckos (they will be my first). They will be both femals ; 1 Snow Leopard and 1 Syper-Hypo Tangerine from Crig @ The Urban Gecko. I have am sending him the money next week as he is holding the two leopards for me. The babies are a month old and weigh 8-9 grams (i requested them as babies so, i can raise them) im going to have each of them in a 10 gallon tank for the first few months. then move to a 30 gallon tank set up, 'cause i plan to get a Sunglow male next year for breeding.
each 10 gallon will have a small UTH and small hiding place and a small humid hide. along with a water dishbowl and a cap ful of calcium. and paper towels for subtrate
In the 30 gallon tank i will use a UTH in the middle. and on either side a hide box and a humid box (on each side) 2 water bowls and two caps filled with calcium powder, i will spread them around the cage. I plan to put the hides and bowls and caps in various places of the tank for variety. for substrate in here i was thinking tile.
Also the UTH's will be monitored by a rheostat and a temp gun.
Now i have a few questions for everyone here just out of curiosity as i wanna see other opinions :
1. What kind of tile is suitable, ie a thing smooth tile or maybe textured? or a thicker kind?
2. What kind of calcium powder does everyone use?
3. Has anyone had experience with Phoenix Worms? or any other insect to use instead of or in conjuction with crickets and mealworms
4. Also, what kind of hide boxes and humid boxed do you use or make?
Now i live in Miami Florida so its usually pretty hot here, i make sure to turn off the air in my house during the day wether im here or not and it turns on at night...the lows get to be abt 70.
here are some pics of the babies!!!!
