Let me make sure I'm following you: You're planning to use three UTH's in the 30gal? One in the middle and one on each end? If that's what you're planning, I don't think it will work unless you're going to use very small heaters. I suppose if you use really small heaters though, it might be ideal. You could have hot spots at various places. But, if you use a larger heater that is rated for a 30 gal tank, you'll want to put it on one side so that you can get a temp gradient. Even with the three small heaters, you may not be able to get any cool spots. From what I've seen, my leo doesn't spend a huge amount of time basking on the hot spots.
