You said...."I currently have coconut shell bedding"...I don't recommend using any substrate for arboreal chameleons. I worry about the possibility of impaction.



You said..."what would make him dig in the dirt??"...is he digging in the front corner? Some people say that there is something not right with the cage setup....like not enough cover/plants. Sometimes I think they just want out of the cage.
